Case Studies – Sooter’s Photography (www.sooters.ca)

BEFORE
AFTER

The Beginning
When we at Digital Fork Design looked at the Sooters.ca site, we were completely turned off. The brown graphics made us not want to know more. It all felt gawky, but we had known the owners of the shop for a couple of years so we felt we needed to help.

Digital Fork sat down with Eszter and Ivan to create a site that could connect with new customers, reconnect with old ones and showcase the work done by Sooter’s.

The Process
Through consultation, some trial and error and tweaking of elements, Digital Fork was able to put together a clean site that was fast-loading and showcased the photos in various categories that represent the services at Sooter’s.

We built the site with new Web 2.0 capabilities so that it would be scalable for future services. We were able to build a site that was easy for Sooter’s to update some of the site on their own. The site has since been ranking in the top 3 on Google since being built.

Once the Sooter’s site was launched, there was immediate interest in the business and while too early to tell, we think it will generate some new clients for Grad and Wedding Season.

The Successes
Sooter’s Photography in Richmond, BC is looking forward to a new look on business in 2010 and expect that things are going to really pickup.

Since March 2010, Digital Fork Design has helped create buzz for their studio. First was creating a dynamic website that can be changed as the business grows and then it was offering discounts to new customers to get new customers.

By implementing a slideshow into the site, customers can see firsthand in the comfort of their home what kind of work is done at Sooter’s. You can now see that they would be great for your wedding or family portrait. Traveling abroad? Why not use Sooter’s to get your Passport Picture done? Be sure to head to the blog part of the site to get a coupon to save a couple bucks. With Sooter’s being so close to the airport, they are the ideal place to get a Passport Picture.

The End Result
When Digital Fork Design first approached Sooter’s, they had talked about a new web site. I don’t think they were sure they would get a good site because we had been friends before. Digital Fork did the majority of the work on the site before we were even paid. We knew we had to prove ourselves to them. It took a few tries to get what Eszter wanted and we patiently appealed to her changes. We went back, rebuilt the site a couple times until we were all happy. It was a long process but one where we all got what we wanted.

If Eszter’s mind should change again, we will be ready to do the work for her and offer her our expert opinions. In the meantime, we offer our advice to Sooter’s for other online and print marketing and advertising opportunities to grow their business.
